Jacki and Jordan’s Chesterfield Wedding

Chesterfield Riverside Wedding

There was a point during the wedding day where I was speaking to a wonderful woman named Diane.   Diane is the mother of one of Jordan’s High School friends.  And even after all theses years, her guidance and nurturing had not been forgotten.   Diane and I were talking and somewhere along the line, our light-hearted conversation turned deep.   And I was reminded of something.   We each meet one another for a reason.   A reason that we may not understand at the moment.   Whether we only meet for enough time to exchange a light-hearted greeting or if life gives you the opportunity to form a deep relationship…   Everything happens for a reason.

Jacki and Jordan’s Chesterfield Wedding had many of those moments.

For someone who often puts herself down (me), and who never feels “good enough”… I’m really finding, more and more,  the “why” in why I what I do.     And these moments and signs were all around me when I was there celebrating  Jacki and Jordan’s day.

It’s not about making the perfect moments happen, it’s about allowing those moments to happen naturally.   It’s not about showing our perfected,  camera-ready smiles.   It’s about allowing ourselves to really feel the moment, and allowing ourselves to truly be in the “now”.

The goal is to make images that…. that one day, our future generations will be able to look back on.. and hopefully get an authentic visual story of where they came from.   You want those future kiddos to look at the pictures made from your wedding day and say… “oh wow… Grandma and Grandpa STILL look at each other that way.”   They STILL have those same smiles.    They STILL hold hands that very same way.    That is the beauty of photography.   We can capture what is happening right now. . . at this very moment for it to live on.   Wowsers…. That gives me chills.

When you look at a picture… you should see those two people interacting in a way that is natural for them.  And the beautiful thing is… every couple is different.  Some are a tad shy,  some a little more intimate, and others outgoing and silly.   Each difference that we have… as individuals and as couples are truly unique and amazing.   Each couple I work with,  I want to bring out them.   What makes them… “Them“.

Now Jacki and Jordan’s day was magical… and for the very same reasons, I mentioned above.   These two share something so special.   The way they look at each other,  the way they hold hands.  The way they laugh… together.  These aren’t things that a photographer can make someone do.    This is all them.     Seriously… everything about them and their day was amazing.

I actually met Jacki (and her now sister in law Mary) a few years ago-  when they were students in the LNA class that I was teaching!  (back in my nursing days!)  Who would have thought that a few years later… I would be photographing a wedding where two of my best students would be taking part.  (one as the blushing bride, and the other as one of her bridesmaids!)  It’s really quite amazing how the world works.    Because,  Mary and Jacki- met for the first time in my class… then Mary introduced Jacki to her brother Jordan (the groom)  and the rest is history.

There were so many special people that stand out from their day.   Grandma Jo-Ann.   So sweet and sassy.   Then there was Great Aunt Jo…. who hit the dance floor running.    (Yep. I think I want to adopt her! )  And of course, there were Dawn and Bill.   Jacki’s parents, who when they smiled… they lit up the room.  Jordan’s Mom and Aunt Sharon also were a hoot!  I had the chance to hang with them a little bit at the rehearsal dinner.   The entire wedding party was so helpful and kind.  There are actually so many people that I want to personally mention… but if I did, this post wouldn’t end. (And LORD knows that I talk too much as it is!! haha)    But… that just goes to show the amazing.. awesome family these two have supporting them.

It’s couples like Jaclyn and Jordan.    It’s families like theirs, and it’s knowing that their pictures will be treasured for lifetimes yet to come…. Is why I do what I do…

I document life.

Yep… I’m crying a little.

Here is a quick sneak of their day!!  Believe me when I say… this is just a taste!  There were just sooo many amazing moments.    xoxo
