Concord Ma Wedding Photographer
Sarah + Matt
With each passing year- I ( just a little ol’ Concord MA Wedding photographer) grow to love the craft of photography more and more. Currently, I’m at a crossroads about how I want to grow as a photographer. I’m finding myself drawn to the more authentic nature of candid photography, rather than the perfect “posey posey”. I would much rather capture a couple interacting naturally and without pretense. (Compared to the sit still… say cheese images that render perfection) What is perfection anyway? I strive to capture images where only two people are present… not three. (the couple + photographer)
Because of my philosophy, each session will be different. I encourage all couples to release expectations and just let the session unfold naturally. I guide couples… but essentially I say with each direction… “make it your own”. And that is when the magic is made. Their future children and grandchildren won’t want to see what I (the photographer) told them to do. Rather I think it’s more rewarding to give the future generations a true representation of the personalities of their grandparents. The essence of their grandparent’s relationship way back when….
Sarah and Matt totally killed it at their session! I first met them Sarah’s parents home in Concord, MA. Like all my sessions, we start off enjoying a nice glass of wine and chatting. I feel this is one of the most crucial parts of each session. It’s during this time when we get comfortable and where the fun begins.
One thing I LOVED about these two was their fun essence, and easy going nature. I think we captured some amazing images. And not surprisingly… the ones I love most are the ones where they are just being them.
So why don’t we hear a little bit more from the fun couple!
We met on an online dating website almost 5 years ago. I was really busy in graduate school and was in the midst of moving (apparently these excuses aren’t good enough because Matt was working full time and in a part-time MBA program). I hadn’t responded to a message from him in over 18 days (and this actually happened more than once). I am extremely lucky he asked me to dinner after all that!
We went to “The Foundry” a restaurant in Davis Square. I think the first date went okay. I was nervous because it was the only day I had access to an armband that I needed for a school project which tracked my energy expenditure. I thought he was going to think I was a neurotic freak. The conversation continued to flow, but it felt a little like an interview since we had just met for the first time. He did not think I would agree to a second date. So maybe that’s telling of how it went?
We went out for what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner in Newport, RI after getting a new job. After an early dinner, we went to the Cliff Walk. When no one was around, he got down on one knee and said something about having fun in gray skies and blue (it was a drizzly day). I called my parents, but they already knew since he had talked to them earlier in the week. They already had a cake ready to celebrate that weekend.
We are really enjoying the nicer weather because we have a lot more energy to be adventurous. We really enjoy taking long walks and exploring parts of the city. We have joined co-ed rec sports leagues together and have various “sports days” where we will get a group of friends together and do everything from play whiffle ball, basketball, soccer or even throw a football around. We love trying new restaurants but also enjoy going back to our favorites (and especially our favorite bar “Corner Tavern.”) We also really enjoy sitting on the couch after a long week and catching up on favorite TV shows.
I am much more of a morning person and have a hard time to stay awake late at night (whereas he is the opposite). Our joke is that I barely make “double digits” (or 10 pm) many nights. He really hates when I start cleaning or cooking (I went to culinary school so sometimes I really get excited about making an elaborate meal) when it’s time to relax on a Saturday morning. He operates on a slightly different timetable than I do and is sometimes a little more delayed to things than I would like.
Wedding plans are coming along well. Most of the big details are planned out. It helps to have a mother who is extremely organized, obsessed with little details and an Etsy fanatic. We are creating our own ceremony so that is probably the biggest detail that still needs some work. We are just hoping for everyone to have a great time. We had an engagement party in the winter which was a blast. If that is a microcosm at all of the wedding, I think we are in good shape. There was just so much love and excitement.
We’ve enjoyed doing a lot of the planning and decision-making together. While we certainly expect to have an awesome time, it’s always good to remember to enjoy all the little days in between. Also, the perspective we have is the wedding is just a planned party in the future, and our entire relationship does NOT depend on how this day goes.
I am a Registered Dietitian currently working in a weight loss clinic counseling patients who are preparing for or who have already had bariatric surgery Matt just started a new job as a Sales Operations Manager at Carbonite, a tech company in Boston.
Our cat Doug runs the show at home and can be very demanding of our attention. We do demand one thing of him-we have taught him to stretch his right back leg out before we feed him.
