Vanessa & Evan | Boston Engagement Session

I absolutely love photographing newly engaged couples! It’s just so exciting! While weddings are wonderful in their own right, I do enjoy flexing my creative muscle during engagement sessions. Meeting the couples I work with and learning all about their love story is something I’m really passionate about. From how they met to the proposal and all the wedding planning in between, I want to hear it all! I loved every moment of Vanessa and Evan’s Boston engagement session, especially their unique love story with its romantic-comedy-esque twist. Fate really works in mysterious ways, and you’ll find out what I’m talking about as you read more about these lovebirds.

Meet The Sweethearts: Vanessa And Evan

In the charming town of Charleston, Vanessa and Evan had a chance meeting at Sully’s, a local dive bar and one of Vanessa’s favorite spots. Vanessa, a regular at Sully’s, loved the laid-back atmosphere of the bar, while Evan was not a fan. But on that fateful night, their worlds collided when Evan’s dad and Vanessa’s best friend shared a shot together. And the rest, as they say, is history! The twist is that despite being neighbors for so long, these two had never met before!

As the pandemic hit, the streets of Charlestown fell quiet. It was during this time that Vanessa and Evan had their first real date. With nowhere to go, Vanessa cooked some delicious fajitas, and the two spent hours talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. This time allowed them to bond and grow closer much faster. It wasn’t long before Vanessa knew Evan was ‘the one’. The moment came after a fall trip to Portsmouth, NH, when she noticed Evan making notes on his phone, diligently memorizing her family members’ names in preparation for meeting them. This thoughtful gesture was what made Vanessa realize that she had found a keeper.

Fast forward to September 3rd, 2022, when Evan decided to pop the big question! He proposed to Vanessa in a picturesque park in Charlestown, bringing them back to where it all began (so cute!). Happy to be engaged, they celebrated their engagement with brunch at Monument, one of their favorite restaurants, and later headed back to Sully’s, where their journey started. To Vanessa’s surprise, Evan had gathered their friends and family for an unforgettable celebration.

These guys were such sweethearts and continued to tell me more about themselves. Vanessa and Evan love their weekly date nights and exploring the culinary delights of their South End neighborhood. As foodies, they revel in trying out new dishes and savoring their favorite wines. When they aren’t indulging in delicious food, the couple enjoys bonding over playing cards, cheering on the Eagles and Bruins, and simply enjoying each other’s company. While Evan is the cook in the relationship, Vanessa keeps him good company! If you ask me, that’s how you create balance!

Vanessa And Evan’s Boston Engagement Session

I was beyond excited to travel to Boston and meet my lovely couple at their cozy apartment. Before the engagement session, we decided to kick things off with drinks on their rooftop patio, setting the mood for an unforgettable day. Laughter filled the air as we sipped our beverages, and I was so grateful for the warmth and kindness Evan and Vanessa exuded. With spirits high and a beautiful bond to capture, we headed down to the Boston Public Garden, ready to create memories that would last a lifetime.

The garden was filled with vibrant flowers, and the trees surrounding us were absolutely majestic. The pond in the middle of the garden doubled up as the perfect backdrop for the photos too! Vanessa and Evan posed effortlessly in front of the camera, embracing and kissing each other as I photographed the couple just soaking in that ‘just engaged’ bliss!

One of the highlights from Evan and Vanessa’s Boston engagement session was when they broke out into a dance. They were just wandering around, enjoying the scenery, and then out of nowhere, they started dancing! It was like something out of a movie. And the lighting! It was exactly what I needed to create their fairy tale-inspired light and airy engagement photographs.

I ask all my engaged couples about what they look forward to the most on their wedding day. And this is what Vanessa said, “Our first look and to be able to call him my hubby.” They also shared some valuable wedding planning advice and said, “Stay true to yourself and do what makes you comfortable! Other people’s opinions are great, but at the end of the day, it’s your and your fiancé’s day!” And I couldn’t agree more with them. Do what you love together!
