Engagement sessions become even more special when the couple shares a personal connection with the location. For Molly and Jake’s East Matunuck State beach engagement session, we went back to the place where this new chapter in their lives began! This beach is exactly where the groom-to-be popped the question, and coming back here and hanging out with the college sweethearts was so much fun. With the never-ending horizon, the misty ocean spray, and that cool sea breeze, I could totally tell why this was Jake’s favorite beach (and a great place for a proposal!).
College was the start of it all for Molly and Jake. They first crossed paths at the beginning of their junior year. It was surprising that they had never met before (considering it was a small school and Jake’s height!). They felt an instant connection, and there was no looking back for these lovebirds.
They had a romantic first date with dinner followed by a beautiful sunset at Shelburne Farms. But that’s only the beginning! Fast forward to their fifth dating anniversary, Jake had planned the perfect proposal. He popped the question at his family beach house during sunrise. But there’s a twist! Jake proposed with a fake ring so they could design Molly’s dream ring together, using diamonds from her grandmother’s ring. Isn’t that so sweet?
They’re like two peas in a pod, doing everything together, from eating good food to tackling home projects, spending time outside, and visiting with family and friends.
East Matunuck State Beach in Rhode Island was the perfect setting for their engagement session. The session had a laid-back vibe, and these two just focused on having a good time together (isn’t that the foundation of a rock-solid relationship?). For me, a couple that laughs together stays together, and Molly and Jake made each other laugh and smile throughout the day. And all of their photos are proof! Honestly, I knew this engagement session was going to be a blast when we bonded over drinks at Captain Jacks before I even had the chance to photograph them. They just had such a great vibe!
Molly and Jake were completely in their element and lost in their own little bubble of love. They giggled (a lot), stole sweet kisses, and showered each other with all the love. I really loved how they were able to completely be themselves in front of me. That’s exactly how I was able to document their bond so authentically. And, of course, the picturesque scenery of the shoreline added to the beauty.
“We’re so excited to celebrate with our friends and family and dance!” replied Molly and Jake when I asked about what they were looking forward to the most on their big day. When I asked them for any advice that they’d like to give to couples planning their wedding, their response was simple yet powerful. They said, “Do what makes you happy. Oh, and start early and use a planner!” Their own wedding plans are coming along great. And the best part? Jake defers most of the choices to his bride-to-be, leaving her to plan their big day. Jake really gets the groom of the year award for this one!
