You could never go wrong with an Engagement at Bedford Village Inn in late October. The air feels crisp, the leaves glow in warm amber tones, and the property settles into that early-evening calm unique to New England in the fall. On October 27th, I had the joy of spending the afternoon with Calleigh and Ethan at the beautiful Bedford Village Inn, capturing a chapter of their story that feels completely their own.
Before we even started taking photos, I asked Calleigh and Ethan to tell me once more how they met. Their answer made me smile, mostly because it reminded me how love can find its way through the most effortless connections.
They were set up by mutual friends—one of those casual arrangements that turns out to be the spark that changes everything. There was no elaborate plan and no long lead-up. Just two people in the same place at the same time because a group of friends thought, These two would be perfect together.
And, as it turns out, they were absolutely right.
Their first meeting wasn’t even a one-on-one date, it happened at a Red Sox game surrounded by friends. The game, the energy, the shared excitement—it was an easy setting for their first real conversation and the beginning of something steady and natural.
Their actual first date came later at Boston Burger Company. Ethan was excited. Calleigh, however, had a small confession: she doesn’t like burgers. So she ordered a salad and let the moment be what it was—fun, lighthearted, and filled with the kind of early jitters that make first dates unforgettable for all the right reasons.
Calleigh always wanted something private for a proposal, something quiet and intentional. Ethan listened, and he delivered exactly that. He made an Italian dinner at their apartment—simple, comforting, and thoughtful. Then the two of them exchanged Christmas gifts a few days early. Among the gifts, Ethan handed Calleigh a photo book filled with memories from across their relationship. She flipped through the pages, not knowing what waited at the end. That final page came with something extra: a ring.
In that soft, intimate moment, Ethan asked her to marry him.
But the night didn’t end there. Ethan told her they were heading out for dinner with their families. Instead, he surprised her with a celebration at her parents’ home—friends, loved ones, and the people who had been cheering them on from the beginning. It was lively, warm, and exactly the balance of private and shared that Calleigh had hoped for.
As we walked across the property at Bedford Village Inn, stepping through fallen leaves and finding pockets of golden light, I asked them what they love doing together.
Their answers painted a picture of a couple grounded in everyday joys:
Evening walks with their dog Daisy. Watching movies and catching up on TV shows. Skiing in the winter. Visiting Newfound Lake in the summer. Spending time with friends and family whenever they can.
Their separate hobbies make them feel even more relatable. Ethan loves playing video games with his friends. Calleigh unwinds with crime documentaries and reality TV. Together they laugh easily, and separately they enjoy the things that make them feel most like themselves—a perfect balance for a partnership that feels steady and real.
The grounds of the Bedford Village Inn were glowing with that signature late-October color palette—soft peach tones, golden leaves, and patches of warm sunlight breaking through the trees. With every step, I found a spot that felt like it belonged to Calleigh and Ethan’s story.
Daisy joined part of the session, which added so much personality and sweetness. She trotted through the leaves with her fluffy white coat catching the light, looking like she knew she was part of something important.
Calleigh and Ethan slipped into poses naturally—walking hand in hand, laughing between prompts, leaning in for quiet moments that showed exactly how comfortable they are together. They didn’t force anything; they simply let themselves be who they are. And in a setting as beautiful as Bedford Village Inn, that ease created photographs filled with warmth and sincerity.
Later, we moved to the stone architecture near the inn, where the neutral textures contrasted beautifully with their soft color palette. These portraits felt calm and grounded, almost like a preview of the commitment they’ll soon make.
I always love learning what couples do when they’re not in front of my camera. Calleigh works as a receptionist at an endodontic office, where she balances organization and patient care. Ethan works as a consultant for mergers and acquisitions at an accounting firm—structured, analytical, and steady. Their careers complement each other in a way that mirrors their relationship: a balance of care and practicality.
When I asked what they were most excited for about the wedding, their answer was immediate: to be married. Yes, the details matter. Yes, the celebration will be beautiful. But at the heart of everything, Calleigh and Ethan are simply excited to step into the next chapter together, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
Wedding planning, they shared, is going great. The major decisions are complete, and now they’re moving into the fun stage where the smaller details bring everything to life.
Their advice to other couples planning a wedding?
Don’t stress too much. Everything falls into place. The day goes by so quickly, and it’s worth savoring every part of the process.
As the session wrapped up, the sun slipped lower, casting that soft late-day glow that makes Bedford Village Inn feel even more inviting. Watching Calleigh and Ethan interact throughout the afternoon made it clear why their story works so beautifully: they’re comfortable, grounded, and genuinely happy together.
I’m so excited for their wedding day and honored to have documented this chapter. Their Engagement at Bedford Village Inn was filled with warmth, personality, and so many moments that speak to who they are as a couple.
And I can’t wait to photograph the next part of their journey.
