Getting to share your life with the one you love is a beautiful feeling and blessing in itself. And I have always felt that celebrating and honoring that commitment is a great way for couples to remind each other about the special bond they share! Michelle and Andrew marked their first anniversary by renewing their vows and made sure that it was a day to remember! It was such a wonderful event, and with Michelle’s parents’ 40th wedding anniversary falling on the same weekend, there were two milestones being celebrated together. Nestled in the idyllic Green Mountains, Michelle and Andrew renewed their vows at The Equinox Resort. It was truly a breathtaking venue that also gave me the perfect setting for outdoor photos of my bride and groom.
Michelle and Andrew got married on June 6th, 2020, and planned to celebrate their anniversary in style this year, and they definitely turned up the style! Though it was an extremely hot day, all of their friends and family still came together to help the couple celebrate their vow renewal ceremony. Plus, it was such a special day for me, too, as I had previously photographed Michelle and Andrew’s Engagement Session and truly enjoyed being in their company and getting the chance to tell their love story.
Also, another special thing about this day was nobody really needed to wear masks! Since the restrictions were eased, it was so great to have this sense of normalcy at such events again. Although keeping everyone’s safety in mind, Michelle and Andrew kept their guest list short.
The couple ensured that this day was unique to them in every way. Michelle actually wore the same veil that her mother wore on her wedding day 40 years ago! And even though they were already married, Michelle had the first look for Andrew, and the way he looked at her was priceless! I loved that they recreated this moment for their anniversary too.
As a photographer, I always say that photos aren’t meant to be perfect. I would rather let the images reflect my couple’s personalities than just trying to pose them to perfection. It’s important to me that my couple’s future children look at these images one day and say, “Wow! Mom and Dad STILL look at each other like that!” And the first look photos are always so emotional and lovely. I think these images should definitely reflect those raw emotions that a couple feels at that moment.
As the day progressed, Michelle’s parents, Patty and Roger, walked her down the aisle, and after a sweet vow renewal ceremony in the presence of their loved ones, we moved to the reception site. The couple even had an anniversary dance during the reception to celebrate this milestone and mark their parents’ anniversary.
One of the most memorable moments from the day was undoubtedly Becky’s (Andrew’s sister) speech! Becky was named the ‘Best Person’ rather than the ‘Best Man’, and she gave one of the most remarkable speeches I’ve ever heard. She tied in her role as the Best Person in a sweet way to turn it around to how her big brother was often the best when it came to sibling rivalry. But then she did admit that he’s better at five things, one of which was loving his bride! That was super cute!
Later at the party, I witnessed some sweet sibling moments between Becky and Andrew and immediately captured them on my camera. Even though it was such a hot day, the guests did not shy away from going crazy on the dance floor! And while everyone was busy dancing, my couple and I sneaked out for a few more couple portraits to end this wonderful day on a romantic note.
Michelle and Andrew, I love you two and enjoy working with you so much! Your wedding vow renewal ceremony was gorgeous, and with the love and crazy dancing by your close ones on a scorching 90+ degrees day, it was just incredible. Thank you for choosing me as your photographer again, and I look forward to celebrating and capturing many more milestones together.
