I actually first met Shannon and Shaun at the wedding of Jacki and Andrew, where Shannon was the Maid of Honor. (Jacki and Andrew are pictured here today too!! ) because they are not only the best of friends but also cousins! At Jacki and Andrew’s wedding– I had the opportunity to meet Shannon’s parents and Shaun too! All of which was the most FUN group of peeps! From what I could easily tell, they laughed a lot and are super tight-knit, which proved to be the same now that we have fast-forwarded two years to December 15th, 2018! Today- I’m talking about Shannon and Shaun’s Winter wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill!
Here is a true story of soulmates and their story is ever so sweet. Their moms- (best friends for the entirety of Shannon and Shaun’s lives) made it so this couple grew up together. Back at their engagement session, when I asked… they admitted to an unspoken attraction, but the timing was never right. And now- here we are at their winter wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill!
It’s been about two years since I met these two- and they still smile and laugh just as much as they did before. Shannon’s smile seriously lights up the room. And everyone witnesses just how she lights up Shaun too. You will see in the photos- the most adoring way he looks at his beautiful bride. His childhood best friend, and now his wife. I could cry thinking about it!
There is so much planning that goes into a wedding. When your day comes around- you hope for perfection. But here’s the thing…. a wedding day rarely goes off without some sort of hiccup. And winter weddings have an even added stressor (for photographers that is) of shortened available sunlight. But here’s the thing, it’s all about perspective. All the little things that may go wrong truly won’t hold a candle to the magic you feel when you get to call your childhood best friend…. your spouse. And Shannon and Shaun did just that. They put themselves on cloud nine and enjoyed every little thing about their wedding day. Spending time with loved ones, friends, and above all…. your husband. (or wife. )
