This was my first Engagement Session at the Fells Estate! And it didn’t disappoint!! What has me even more excited, is that Sarah and Jon will also be having their wedding there next year!
This venue is amazing. And the thing is… we didn’t even begin to truly explore all the grounds and gardens that this place offers. I’m hoping that on their wedding day, we will have some time to explore and create even more magical photos!!
The Fells, also known as the Hay Estate, was originally the summer home of John Milton Hay, a 19th-century American statesman. It is located in Newbury, New Hampshire.
John Hay served the United States in various capacities in a career that lasted over 40 years. He was Abraham Lincoln’s private secretary during the Civil War and later a diplomat and a journalist. He became United States Secretary of State in 1898.
So How cool is that?… To be able to not only visit but photograph at a location so rich in American History!
Light and Airy Engagement Session at Fells Estate
Sarah and Jon were so much fun to hang with! We first met at Bubba’s, a local Bar Restaurant before heading over for our Engagement Session!
These two make one good looking couple! And it was fun to have their fur babies along with us too!
How did you meet?
“We actually went to high school together but never officially met until after college!”
Tell us about your first date!
“Jon has had a love affair within Indian since he discovered it and got me hooked on our very first date! Needless to say we still have our weekly date nights at our favorite Indian Restaurant!”
How did he propose?
“Jon took me to his favorite country, Switzerland! After a long walk to the top of a mountain, he discovered the castle he wanted to propose in was closed due to construction (he was so mad haha I had no idea why :P) So we walked aimlessly for what felt like hours upon end until he found an impromptu location further down the river that was so serene and perfect and got down on one knee! Best Day Ever <3 “
What sort of things do you do for fun together?
“We are the definition of Homebodies. Love to travel abroad but when we are home, we are H-O-M-E <3 Being with our puppies is our favorite pastime!”
How about some individual hobbies?
Jon loves all things cars and motorcycles while Sarah loves all things DIY.
How Are the Wedding Plans coming along?
“Great! Our wedding planner has made ALL the difference!”
As a couple who is currently planning a wedding, What advice do you have for other couples?
“Wedding Planner = Necessity! Just go with the flow and enjoy every moment 🙂 “
