I love to photograph winter weddings and events – I know many couples and photographers may not find the concept as favorable, but if you ask me – the nip in the air, the frost-laden outdoors, the warm evening lights, and a cozily lit fire make for good enough reasons for me to capture the winter vibe in all its glory. So when Emily and Bryant chose me to photograph their winter elopement at the Lakefalls Lodge in Munsonville, New Hampshire, I definitely had reasons to celebrate! A historic estate sitting pretty amid the New Hampshire forest, treetops, branches, rooftops, and pathways covered in a thick blanket of snow, and a super laid-back couple who finally wanted to tie the knot – these elements beautifully sum up this winter elopement session I was a part of. And I had a gala time documenting a wintry elopement amid a fairy-tale setting.

This blended family had me at the word go! Emma was about eight months pregnant with their second child and wanted to finally get married. And she looked like a dream in her lacy gown, with soft curls caressing her shoulders. Bryant kept his attire absolutely understated and muted, beautifully complementing Emily’s look and in keeping with the truly special simple, quiet, and intimate winter elopement feels. We had just gotten some snow, so it made it like a winter wonderland.
The couple was married by Jennifer Matthews, who was also the wedding planner who organized this event. There was supposed to be a small, intimate reception afterward with about 30ish people, but it had to be canceled because of a COVID exposure. However, the couple was in good spirits. They did enjoy a sparkling cider toast after the ceremony. And I made most of the opportunity to capture their special moments into memories that I hope will last them a lifetime.
As Emma and Bryant stole a kiss and walked hand in hand on the snow-covered path – lost in their little world full of love – I froze these moments on my camera for the couple to look back and cherish time and again. I also took detail shots of the ring and the bouquet and captured the two little cherubic girls with the couple as they witnessed the celebrations unfold with wonder in their eyes. The individual images I took of Emma and the couple portraits of the much-in-love Emma and Bryant also came out stunning. The gorgeous backdrops of Lakefalls Lodge only added to the dreamy quality of the images and helped me create some incredible landscape images for the couple’s winter elopement session.
