A classic black-tie affair, Sara and Devin’s Omni Mount Washington Hotel wedding was such a fantastic mix of traditional elements and some very original touches! Every detail, from their attire to the cake, was picture-perfect. These college sweethearts truly made their wedding day their own and personalized it in such a special way. All I can say is – Swedish liquor and a college tradition featuring mustard shots! A picturesque location, a sweet love story, the cutest baby boy, and some very adorable fur babies – Sara and Devin’s wedding day was a celebration of everything that was important to them, and I loved being around to document their entire day.
It all started when Devin became Sara’s designated driver for a frat party back in college (such a thoughtful gesture by the brothers to ensure the girls’ safety). Little did Devin and Sara know that this chance encounter would shape their lives forever! Devin proposed to Sara under the Bell Tower at their college, Perdu, and they have been inseparable ever since. Time flew by, and now they have been together for seven amazing years (probably eight now) and live in Boston with their two paw-dorable dogs, Niko and Pete (who, might I add, did a fabulous job walking down the aisle!). Oh, and they just had a baby boy named Noah!
Ah, the getting-ready moments, where every wedding day story begins! Sara was every inch the calm and radiant bride as she got ready to walk down the aisle. She looked like a princess in her wedding dress with layers of tulle, and an exquisite bridal bouquet completed her look! Devin got ready for the big day with his groomsmen and looked sharp in his stylish tux. Dressed in a tuxedo and bow tie, Noah gave some serious competition to his dad!
With overcast skies and a gentle breeze, Omni Mount Washington Hotel offered the perfect setting for outdoor portraits. The outdoor ceremony spot was simply breathtaking, with a magnificent view of the lush green mountains. Surrounded by their loved ones and the majestic mountains, Sara and Devin exchanged their heartfelt vows and shared a kiss to seal the deal.
After the ceremony, I whisked away the newlyweds for some couples portraits, and the hotel grounds were absolutely perfect for their pictures. So, we took a leisurely walk through the manicured lawns, where I got to capture some really cute photos of the couple soaking up that “just married” joy! Both of them just had these big, bright smiles on their faces, and that’s all I needed to document the essence of that moment.
I was blown away by the attention to detail put into decorating Sara and Devin’s reception hall. And the three-tiered masterpiece of a cake looked too beautiful to eat! Besides the decor, the reception was also lit up by two lively and entertaining traditions. The first was a Swedish tradition that involved singing and taking a shot of Swedish liquor, and the other involved mustard shots (yes, you read that right!).
Here’s a quick backstory! During freshman year in college, Sara, Devin, and their friends were looking for a “chaser”, and they found mustard! It became a long-standing inside joke and is now a tradition when everyone gets together. These guys have such a crazy sense of humor! I LOVED it! And this was part of why I had such a blast photographing Sara and Devin’s Omni Mount Washington Hotel wedding.
