Engagement sessions are always so full of love and joy, and I can’t help but feel like I am witnessing a little glimpse of heaven every time I shoot one. And my recent experience with Emily and Bryan was no exception. The weather was perfect, and the fall colors added to the beauty of their photos. They happily walked around in an open field in Groton, Massachusetts, while kissing and embracing each other. Emily and Bryan were clearly very much in love, and it was a pleasure to capture their happiness on my camera.
Emily and Bryan met each other at a bar and began talking after having a few too many drinks (wink wink). Bryan’s best friend was dating Emily’s close friend and was the one who got them together! I personally believe that these are the kinds of people everyone needs in their lives.
While talking about their first date, the bride-to-be shared, “Our first date was at my sorority semi-formal! He arrived earlier than I did because my roommate had a dress issue. He had to socialize with a bunch of seniors and made so many friends before I showed up – I knew he was a keeper.”
The lovebirds love to play games and are also big skiers! They have two puurrfect and loving cats that they adore. Another thing they love doing together is going to Bryan’s lake house during the summer and going boating.
I reeallly like to get to know my couples, so I am always interested in knowing more about their journey together. When I asked them how they knew that they were perfect for each other, Emily replied, “He knew I was the one when he took me on the “hardest” ski trail at Killington, and I zipped right by him. And I knew he was the one when he played Catan with me for 12 hours straight.”
Talking about their proposal, Emily was a bit suspicious because she and Bryan were going to Breckenridge, CO, and Ogunquit, MA, in early 2022, which were Emily’s two favorite places. Bryan also asked random questions about her ring choice but had her convinced that he had nothing planned.
Emily continued, “We went to Beachmere Inn for some champagne, and all our friends and family were there for a surprise engagement party. My brother had even flown in from California! Bryan is usually not the planner and terrible at lying, so for him to be able to pull this off was AMAZING.” Bryan, you certainly put in a lot of effort. Hats off to you for your clever planning!
My couple had a sweet session in an open field, and the light mist in the background added an ethereal touch to their engagement photos. The lighting was just perfect, and every frame felt like a postcard. The natural surroundings were so refreshing, and it was wonderful to see these two so in love.
Emily wore a gorgeous olive-colored dress, while Bryan looked handsome in his semi-formal look. They were both so natural in front of the camera, and they looked so good together. They were laughing and joking the whole time, and if you know me, you know I love a couple that likes to get a little goofy. They held hands and walked around, kissed, and embraced each other, and this made it easy for me to capture some amazing candid shots of them together.
One of the best things about working with Emily and Bryan was how easygoing they were. Even though the ground was a bit wet, they were all smiles and fuss-free as they walked around the place, looking for the perfect spot to take photos.
Since I ask all my engaged couples about what they look forward to the most on their wedding day, Emily and Bryan shared, “Celebrating our love – a lot of our family is spread out, and we have a couple different friend groups. Having everyone come together and meet each other will be amazing.”
They also shared some wedding advice and said, “Enjoy it! Remember that not everyone can afford a wedding, so to be able to throw a wedding is a blessing and should be fun.” And I agree 100% with them. Weddings create unforgettable memories and bring everyone together to celebrate the special bond that two people share. So to all the couples planning their weddings right now: You might want to pull your hair out on some days, but here’s your reminder to take it easy and enjoy this special time in your lives.
