As a wedding photographer, there’s nothing quite as important as sticking to a carefully planned schedule to capture those precious moments. However, the unpredictable nature of the weather can throw a wrench into even the most meticulously choreographed shots. Just imagine you’ve choreographed every shot, every pose, only for Mother Nature to decide to rain on your parade (quite literally) and change your plans! That’s exactly what happened at Amanda and Mike’s Bedford Village Inn wedding. So even though it started raining before the wedding ceremony, we had already seized the day earlier for most of the wedding photos. With a splash of optimism and a dash of ‘let’s-do-this,’ Mike and Amanda embraced the moment, and guess what? We captured some utterly heartwarming shots that beautifully tell their love story.
A trip down memory lane to Alyson’s Orchard where I had the pleasure of photographing Amanda and Mike’s engagement session. This beautiful couple crossed paths while working as camp counselors and have been going strong for three incredible years. Passionate about teaching, Amanda is an elementary teacher, while Mike is a middle school teacher.
Fast forward to their proposal; it was a total surprise for Amanda! Mike rented out an entire lighthouse restaurant and made sure they followed a dress code. I can only imagine Amanda’s look of surprise and utter joy when Mike knelt down on one knee and presented her with a ring. These two keep the love flowing, and I was SO happy when they booked me as their photographer again to photograph their wedding.
I started Amanda and Mike’s wedding photography by taking getting-ready photos of the lovebirds. Amanda, a vision in her bridal glory, was an absolute showstopper in her wedding dress. Mike was also busy buttoning his suit and making sure he looked handsome for the day, which he definitely did! Surrounded by the lush greenery at the Bedford Village Inn, the couple had their first look. Amanda had written a sweet love letter to Mike which she read out loud to him. Can we pause for a moment and soak in the beauty of this? It’s these quiet, precious moments that make such great photographs!
And just like that, it was time for Amanda and Mike to say their vows and tie the knot! Initially, the ceremony began outside, but when the skies opened up and it began to pour Mike quickly called to move the wedding inside. Thankfully Amanda hadn’t begun her walk down the aisle! Despite the unexpected change of plans, everyone settled in comfortably, and the show went on. But here’s the best part – throughout all the unexpected twists, Amanda and Mike never lost their positive attitude. They remained calm and collected, setting the tone for a ceremony that was nothing short of magical. It was a truly memorable story to tell.
Amanda and Mike’s wedding reception was super sweet! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by how personalized and special everything was. Since Amanda’s last name is “Lock”, the couple arranged for mini locks for guests to sign and hang on a wire mesh display! But their creativity didn’t end there, Each table had fun facts and memories about the couple, and the newlyweds also had their personal hashtag, #kellermanpickedthelock (“Keller” being Mike’s last name) – such a clever play of words! I couldn’t get enough of all their adorable personalized ideas, and I have to say Amanda and Mike are just the sweetest.
As they swayed to the music during their first dance, I got some fantastic pictures of them soaking in the moment. The rest of the night was filled with joy and dancing; Amanda and Mike’s love filled the room, and their loved ones were delighted to be there for them.
Amanda and Mike, you two are rock stars! I loved being your wedding photographer and enjoyed meeting all your loved ones. Seeing you both become husband and wife was endearing, and I am so honored to have played this little role in your love story. Even though life gave us lemons on that day, I think we made the best damn lemonade ever made. Congratulations, and I wish you both a very happy marriage!
