Engagement sessions are always so much fun, and I just love capturing the love between couples. Diana and Brendan had such a wonderful vibe, and they were so full of positivity and energy. Needless to say, I had a great time photographing their fall engagement session at Cathedral of the Pines. I actually ended up really enjoying their company and I can honestly say that I freakin’ love these two. I’ve photographed several engagement sessions at this stunning location before, and this fall engagement session was just as fantastic. Diana and Brendan, if you are reading this, I hope this blog makes it clear that I had one of my best workdays with you two!
Recalling the time she first met Brendan, Diana said, “We were both software engineers and met at work in 2016. Brendan was on the same team as my friend from college, so I would often stop by their desks to chat. We would set up happy hours after work and invite those around us to join, and gradually Brendan and I started to hang out, just the two of us.”
For Diana, it was an accumulation of all the great times they’ve had that made her realize that Brendan was THE one for her. On the other hand, for Brendan, “It was when we went to see Metallica at Slane Castle in Ireland in June 2019. If I was willing to fly to a different country and trek through mud to see his favorite heavy metal band, he knew I was the one.”
Diana gushed while describing their super romantic proposal, “It was 12/14/2021. Brendan proposed at Grill 23 & Bar, which was on the ground floor of the office where we used to work and where we first met. He took my three-year-old niece away from the table to look at the restaurant’s Christmas trees, where he gave her a lollipop and asked her to tell her aunt that he had something important to ask. She was the perfect accomplice when they returned to the table.”
When asked about the most awaited moment of the wedding, they were quick to answer, “Dancing and being married!” Seeing their excitement and amazing energy during the engagement session, I can only imagine how fun the wedding day is going to be.
There was never a dull moment during Diana and Brendan’s engagement session at Cathedral Of The Pines. You guys know me. I love getting to know my couples before I photograph them. And I had so much fun even when I first met Diana and Brendan for drinks. So, the bar was closed (probably a random closure), and we ended up at a new place for pre-session drinks. The exciting part is that we went back again after the session because we just hit it off like we’d known each other since ages!
Cathedral of the Pines was the perfect setting for their session, with its beautiful autumn leaves and stunning views. It was a gorgeous day for their engagement session, and the couple made the most of it. Diana and Brendan were so sweet and comfortable with each other, making it super easy for me to capture their moments together. They were playful and were laughing and joking the whole time – the perfect ingredients for candid photos.
I always ask my engaged couples for any advice that they would like to share to couples planning their weddings as well. “We are still way away from our wedding, but so far, it has been helpful to space things out each month, e.g. one month, we dedicated ourselves to finding our wonderful photographer, and the next month we found our DJ, and the next, our florist, etc.,” they shared. And I totally agree! Instead of doing everything together, it is better to tick the checklist items one at a time. And if things start to stress you out, take out a day to just enjoy each other’s company and plan something fun, like an engagement session with me!
Thank you, Diana and Brendan, for letting me be a part of your engagement journey. I had so much fun photographing your engagement session, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for you.
