I have a total treat for everyone! I headed to Wilmington VT for an engagement session of two totally amazing people!! So I have some beautiful photos of Taylor and Marcel from their engagement session at the Harriman Reservoir!
These two are incredible! When I first spoke with Taylor and Marcel on the phone, I knew that these were people that I wanted to work with! They were sweet and authentic, open, and honest. And hearing their wedding day plans got me so excited! (They tell you more about their plans a little later in the post! )
So let’s fast forward to their summer engagement session in Wilmington VT! They knew they wanted to have their photos made while surrounded by nature. And they were the ones to find the Harriman Reservoir!
I’ll tell you what- this was the perfect location for their photos! It offers a variety of backdrops and stunning light! But what was even more amazing… was the connection that Taylor and Marcel have. Together it seems as if they can conquer the world. And the way they laugh with each other just makes you instantly happy.
So Why don’t I get right to it. Take a peek at some of my favorite photos from their engagement session at Harriman Reservoir! (Oh and be sure to read their story too!! It’s really sweet!!)
Marcel and I met working at a summer camp, but we had very little interaction until the end of the summer. So it wasn’t until we started having staff parties after work when I really got to know him.
One night, we were at a party and I was having a very bad night. I needed some space, so I went to sit in my car to be alone. Marcel followed me out to my car to make sure that I wasn’t going to drive. He sat with me in my car and listened for hours as I told him all of the crap I was going through. Then he slept in the back of my car all night just to make sure that I was okay.
At this point, he didn’t really know me. And we weren’t friends. He had no reason to be so kind to me, but he was. And I remember thinking…. “this is someone I need to have in my life.”
For our first date, we went for a kayak ride out in the bay behind Marcel’s grandparents’ house.
We were in CT to visit family for the holidays. Marcel had a plan to propose in March when we were back in TX, but he didn’t have a ring yet, so his mom suggested they go together to look at rings. To his surprise, he found the perfect ring within minutes, and then a couple of days later the jeweler called to say the ring was ready – way faster than anyone expected! Marcel didn’t want to worry about bringing the ring back to TX on the plane, and we were already with all of our family. So, on the night we were scheduled to head to the airport, he proposed! In front of the Christmas tree in his parent’s living room, and we were able to celebrate with all of our family!
We love to do anything outdoors! Marcel and I spend a lot of time hiking and camping, going to bike rides, and kayaking! We also love to snuggle up with our puppy and some cozy blankets, light a few candles, sip some hot tea, and read or watch a movie.
Taylor enjoys many creative endeavors: bullet journaling, calligraphy, photography, and decorating our home. Marcel is a very accomplished archer. He also enjoys blacksmithing, cooking, and of course video games!
Marcel is a human percussion instrument! He is always tapping his feet, drumming on literally anything, and whistling along to the tunes in his head! Taylor gets very distracted with her hair. She loves playing around with it!
Slow and steady! We got engaged in January 2020. And we are getting married in October 2021, so we have lots of time. We booked our venue and I found my dress, but everything else is only planned on Pinterest.
It’s super easy to get all caught up in “traditions”, and what your families want. But, it’s your day so do it the way you want!
We will be married at the top of a mountain in October. Marcel and I really plan on embracing the New England fall vibes at our wedding! Marcel and I are hoping to have a very cozy outdoor reception with a bonfire, lawn games, and all the fall snacks you can think of! We are pretty laid-back people, so that’s the kind of atmosphere we want to create for our wedding.
Taylor is a 4th-grade math and science teacher. Marcel works as a barista and is currently working on a start-up opportunity as a green coffee trader.
Next October I will be photographing their wedding up on Wildcat Mountain. And I can’t be more excited!
