I often get asked if you really need an engagement session. I guess technically the answer is no… BUT ….
They. Are. So. Much. FUN!! And engagement sessions offer so many benefits. Some of which include, you get comfortable with your photographer (before the wedding day) and you get some pretty photos too! You can read more about Why you should have an Engagement Session HERE, but now I want to brag all about Kara and Guy!
I had an amazing time getting to know these two at their engagement session at Benson Park. Upon the very first hello- I fell in love with their super cool and fun personalities.
Not only is Kara incredibly gorgeous, and Guy is super handsome, they are just soooo NICE. I think their inner awesomeness truly shine through in their photos! And During our time together- I just loved the way they just let-go and had fun. We were able to capture some fun in-between moments too!
Kara and Guy will be getting married April 25th, 2020 in Boston! Their wedding ceremony will be at St. Leonards with the Reception being held at the historic Liberty Hotel!
So without further adieu, let me introduce you to Kara and Guy! Enjoy the photos!!! (And their story!)
We met in college at Elon University in North Carolina. We were actually in the same friend group since freshman year, but Guy had a girlfriend the beginning of college, and I had a boyfriend in the middle of college. Once senior year rolled around and we were both single, we started falling for each other fast, and officially started dating on New Years Eve 2013-2014!
We didn’t really have a first official date, but would always have fun with each other. For Halloween senior year of college, we went as Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke in the weird outfits from their “Blurred Lines” VMA performance – furry leotard and all!
One memory from going out to dinner at a sushi restaurant is when Guy dared himself to eat the entire blob of wasabi plain – did it – and then had to spend at least 10 minutes in the bathroom trying to recover his mouth while I sat alone at the table LOL…we still laugh about it to this day.
Our first Valentines day I shipped Guy Italian beef from his favorite place in Chicago to Elon, NC. He was shocked because I only knew about the place by eavesdropping on his phone conversations with his family. We always go there when we visit IL now.
The proposal happened while on vacation in Iceland on the Reynisfjara black sand beach in Vik – it was perfect!!! Such a beautiful day with the sun shining and the waves crashing in. Like every beautiful site, Guy and I wanted to get a picture together so he asked a stranger if they could take the photo…but instead of posing and smiling he dropped down to one knee and I was shocked! It was the best surprise of my life, and we spent the rest of our time in Iceland celebrating each other 🙂
We LOVE food! We are very adventurous and appreciative foodies and love to try new places. Each summer, we will try to go to at least 2 new lobster roll places in Maine 🙂 And of course…we love Italian food in all forms!
We are also both big into working out (goes hand and hand with food…right? lol). We love being active together. I have danced my whole life, and then was a barre instructor at Barre3 in the South End for 2 years. Guy is more into lifting. We always joke that going to the gym as often as we do keeps us sane.
We also love traveling both separately and together. I recently got back from Amsterdam & Barcelona. Guy wants his next trip to be Japan. Together we are thinking Hawaii for our honeymoon.
Guy is SUCH a neat freak and is so clean! It’s great most of the time, but also drives me nuts! He is talking about cleaning the kitchen sometimes before we even start cooking.
He thinks that I chew loud and I know it drives him nuts haha 🙂
They are coming along slowly but surely! We just want to create a day that everyone close to us can come together and have a fun, memorable time! As long as we are married to each other, and surrounded by friends and family (on a packed dance floor) we will be happy 🙂
Don’t sweat the small stuff! Enjoy the engagement period – it is so much fun!!! Continue to fall in love with your partner for all of the little things you notice as you grow together as a couple. With wedding planning when something feels right, go with it…trust your gut!
I work at Wayfair as a Brand Manager. My team helps choose the products that go into Wayfair’s private label brands. It is so much fun and a very collaborative workplace.
Guy works at Columbia Threadneedle investments as a portfolio analyst. He supports portfolio management, trading, and research efforts of the Global Asset Allocation team.
We’re both 100% Italian! I can’t think of anything else right now, but can text you if I do 😉
