So much thought went into planning this wedding- down to the very day that it was set for.
If you ask anyone in Bridgitte’s family, growing up they always said NEVER to two things… Marriage and kids. She hadn’t grown up dreaming about the day she would get married. But in short, she wanted it to be fun, laid back and about our families coming together. The day they picked would of been Bridgitte’s real mothers birthday (She lost her to cancer when she was only 5). So the day itself has meaning alone.
With much thanks to Jenn Matthews from Memorable Events , all the planning came together beautifully and the happy couple didn’t have to worry about a thing on their big day. No worries. It was their day to cut loose, and fully enjoy the celebration of them marrying their best friend.
I am simply in love with the soft pastel color scheme, and all the details. Bridgitte picked light airy colors (rose pinks and light peach), with a dash of gold for some glamour. She was going for flower child, whimsical, light and airy and of course FUN! Bridgitte’s dress was a beautiful lace design from Country Bridals in Jaffrey. The Bridesmaid dresses were complete with handmade flower crowns from various artists found on Etsy. All the details came together perfectly!
The Ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful Shattuck, also located in Jaffrey, NH.
So we have all the details about their wedding day– but how did the love birds meet?
HOW WE MET: I was up in Burlington visiting my cousin (she is my maid of honor) for my birthday weekend in January 2014. At the time she lived about a block from the church on church street. We spent that Saturday shopping and ended up wanting to go out for a few drinks later that evening. Jacob was on a skiing trip with his family up in the same area. We crossed paths, and the talking lead to laughter, and after we exchanged numbers. We became fast friends, we would spend our days texting non stop and couldn’t fall asleep without talking on the phone. Distance was against us, he lived in Fitchburg Mass at the time and I was still in Brattleboro, Vermont. Our weekends were spent constantly together, and the week before Jacob bought his house later that fall in Ashburnham he took me to Lake Placid, NY. It was the same place we had traveled to only a few months earlier in May and it was the first time we said ‘I love you’ to each other. He had it all planned out, breakfast at our favorite spot on main street, (the breakfast club etc.) and afterwards though it was raining we walked out to the lake front. I wanted to go stand by the water and walked down the wet grass, while Jacob thought I was following him to the covered performance stage. Well just my luck I slipped and fell on the wet, muddy grass taking Jacob by surprise. I do believe I threw him off his game, because through the ‘are you oks’ and the ‘well get up heres’ he took out a ring, my promise ring. His promise that he wanted to spend forever with me but it was too soon for an engagement ring, so he called this ring a place holder. Almost a year, a house, a puppy and a big move on my part later we found ourselves back in Lake Placid, NY this past September. And like all the times before this trip was one to remember as well. Because on the top of White Face Mountain he got down on one knee and proposed. To quote the quote “every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite” would be an understatement. Everything about Jacob and how we meet, and our relationship has in fact felt just like a fairy tale love story.
