Love is a beautiful thing, and it deserves to be celebrated every day. This sentiment rings especially true for couples like Courtney and Matt. Their love story didn’t begin with grand gestures or romantic settings but rather a conversation about The Lion King at a high school football game. After getting to know each other, Matt officially asked Courtney to be his girlfriend at the Homecoming Dance in 2009. Now, years later, I had the honor of photographing their engagement at The Hermitage Inn in West Dover. The natural beauty of the location was the perfect backdrop to capture the sweet moments and intimate details of their love. And let me tell you, these two are not only adorable, but they’re also super fun and laid back. I had a blast spending time with them, and I’m thrilled to share their story with you.
Meet The Lovebirds
Courtney and Matt’s first date was as unique as their love story! They met at Harrison’s Roast Beef, a local favorite, where they grabbed a quick bite before heading to support their high school soccer team – Go Raiders! Fast forward to a chilly January day filled with adventure and romance. Matt surprised Courtney with a scavenger hunt through the heart of Boston, solving puzzles that led to a proposal she’ll never forget. As they strolled through the Boston Common, a sneaky photographer was actually there to capture the magic moment. Matt went down on one knee, and the rest is history! But there’s more – their closest friends and family were waiting at the Liberty Hotel to celebrate, making it a night to remember with delicious meals, drinks, and even a late-night stop to Hong Kong for a karaoke duet.
Courtney and Matt share some funny, sentimental, and sometimes silly moments that add layers of warmth and love to their relationship. They share a sweet tooth, delighting in their mutual love for ice cream paired with Cheez-Its, a combo that perfectly balances sweet and salty cravings. When it comes to winding down, Matt and Courtney love cozying up on the couch for a favorite TV show, but here’s the twist – Courtney’s superpower is dozing off within a mere ten minutes of the episode’s start! She playfully nicknames Matt the “Sass King” for his quick wit and humor, bringing laughter into their everyday life. Their cat, Rascal, completes the picture. Initially cautious, Rascal now adores Matt, making him the feline favorite!
Courtney & Matt’s The Hermitage Inn Engagement
The Hermitage Inn is a quintessential retreat in Vermont, boasting stunning views of lush greenery and beautiful architecture that transport you to a simpler time. This location was ideal for Courtney and Matt’s engagement session – the perfect blend of romance and whimsy that beautifully captured their love. With the weather on our side, the light and airy atmosphere made for some truly stunning shots – and we all know how much I adore that!
The engagement session was held outdoors against the breathtaking scenery of the venue. As for Courtney and Matt, they looked stunning walking in the woods, cuddling on the bench, and enjoying the beautiful landscape around them. As I captured the lovebirds, they laughed, snuggled, and enjoyed each other’s company. It was evident that Courtney and Matt shared a deep bond of love and affection, which made taking the photos feel more intimate and romantic.
The lovebirds were clearly head over heels for each other – every touch, every laugh, every loving glance was utterly genuine. It was such a pleasure to capture their natural chemistry on camera. Adding to the beauty of it all, the picturesque rolling hills and fall colors served as the perfect backdrop for this loved-up pair. Honestly, it was such a joy capturing their overwhelming affection and happiness. Whether running around, showing off their antics, or sharing a giggle, every moment of documenting their love felt genuine and effortless.
