Merrill and Scott traveled all the way from NJ! And they did so for their Light & Airy winter engagement session at Stonewall Farm. Every session with every couple is different. But I can say that one thing is the same. Each couple loves each other immensely- that it makes my job pretty easy. What’s great about engagement sessions? It’s a great way to really “let your hair down” and have a fun date night. You get to dress up, (or down depending on your style) and you get to make amazing portraits showcasing your relationship.
These two are pretty fun! They were very “go with the flow” and went with it. So now I’m going to turn the story over to them. You can read the answers more about these two below. (And sprinkled througout the post!)
Our first date was over drinks after work…Scott somehow got the date wrong and thought Merrill stood him up! But luckily she gave him a chance anyway.
Scott proposed at the MET Cloisters, a hidden gem of a museum dedicated to medieval art and architecture – the building itself is constructed from original French monasteries, shipped to America , stone by stone. The Cloister’s contemplative gardens, overlooking the Hudson River, provided a romantic setting for Scott to ‘pop’ the question!
Scott and Merrill enjoy snowboarding and skiing, and love taking quick weekend trips outside of NYC. Fall activities are also a favorite, along with cooking, baking, and decorating their new apartment!
Merrill: I’m definitely more of a planner and very particular about being ‘on time’ for things – Scott is more laid back, so we can sometimes butt heads when I insist on sticking to a detailed timetable!
Merrill: Lots of research – I probably contacted over 200 wedding venues, which seems crazy, but it allowed me to feel confident that the venue we ultimately chose was the right one for us.
Scott: Focus on small tasks and try to simplify things where possible.
Merrill is an Executive Assistant at a boutique merchant bank, and Scott is an Attorney at a law firm that prosecutes securities fraud in order to recover for victims of stock fraud and promote corporate governance reform.
We both work in NYC and our offices are only a couple of blocks from one another in midtown. We love how easy it is to meet up for coffee during the work day!
Since our venue in southern Maine will be a ‘destination’ for many of our family and friends, we really hope people will embrace the idea of a New England wedding and see it as opportunity to explore the Seacoast! We hope for a breezy, light summer day!
