Spring Wedding At The Grafton Inn | Toni & Blake

Are you looking for a magical and dreamy beginning to the rest of your life with your partner? Do you want the modern-day charm to blend with rustic beauty on your special day? If so, The Grafton Inn in Vermont could be a perfect fit for you. My beautiful couple, Toni and Blake, said their I dos at this historic, country-style venue! And gosh! What a lovely day it was. I was their wedding photographer and truly enjoyed creating those stellar wedding portraits at this naturally romantic venue.

Nestled amid breathtaking mountains and gorgeous greenery, The Grafton Inn provided us with picturesque backdrops for the photos. The indoors were equally aesthetic and pleasing and set the right mood for the celebration. Even though the day was too hot for spring, the soaring temperatures couldn’t beat our high spirits, and everyone was up for fun and a party. There wasn’t a single dull moment at this wedding, and capturing it all into forever photos was an absolute pleasure for me!

My Couple’s Story

Toni and Blake are super FUN! They own a distillery right down the road from where I live. It’s called Copper Canon, and guess what! They have already beaten Bacardi on several “official” taste tests. Woah! Toni and Blake, talk about soaring spirits! And I’m sure you two will take your business to new heights in the future. Also, count me in as your customer!

So, my couple had been planning their wedding for quite some time but had to push the dates forward by a year because of COVID and the pandemic-induced restrictions. Ah! I totally get that. So many of my couples had to shuffle their wedding plans for the same reasons, but I’m glad they were later able to celebrate their special day in style. And so did Toni and Blake! But, the best part was that these two thought of having a child in the meantime and growing their family. Introducing Lennon! The cutest little girl ever, who became the flower girl at her parentsโ€™ wedding at The Grafton Inn.

On the wedding day, it was hotter than hell! LOL. It was 94 degrees on a spring day in New England, but like I said, my wonderful couple and their amazing guests didn’t let the heat dampen their spirits and excitement even one bit. And the venue only added to the awesomeness of the celebration. I really like how The Grafton Inn sets up their weddings. The getting-ready spots are venue-owned and a short walk from the inn itself. The wedding ceremony is held across the street, and they have a barn that is exclusively for the cocktail hour and dancing while dinner is served inside the actual inn. When you get married here, it’s like you have your own hallmark village, and you get to enjoy a variety of setups.

How The Celebrations Kicked Off

I started photographing the wedding when my couple began getting ready separately for their big day. As I had also photographed their engagement session earlier, my clients already shared an outstanding level of comfort with me. In a way, we had developed a beautiful bond of trust. And the confidence my couple showed in me helped me create some unforgettable images for them.

I created solo portraits of my bride and groom and took pictures of their attire, accessories, and other wedding details. Soon it was time for the first look, but before that, our groom, Blake, needed to grab his breakfast – some 40 minutes away – and got back a little bit late (wellโ€ฆ 45 minutes to be exact). Although it did shift our timeline by a few minutes, as journalist and author AA Gill once said, โ€œBreakfast is everything. The beginning, the first thing. It is the mouthful that is the commitment to a new day, a continuing life.โ€ A famished groom or an exhausted bride isnโ€™t exactly my idea of a peppy couple and pretty pictures after all – especially considering how hot the day was! You sure need to be well-nourished to be completely present in the moment and enjoy all the fun and chaos of your special day. So, I’m mighty glad that Blake decided to refuel himself for a long and fun day ahead and lots of lively and cheerful photos later.

The First Look

Though the first look photos were a little rushed, we saved ourselves from the heat, and I could execute everything smoothly. Ultimately, my couple’s wedding day was perfect! Thanks to the buffer time I had on my timeline (as always)! Planning well in advance always helps and can save you from missing out on capturing important moments and bringing out their true essence in photos. That’s why hiring a professional photographer is always a good idea. They have experience of such situations and can give their couples the best wedding pictures possible. Because they are equipped to navigate panic-inducing moments, be it time crunch or poor weather!

Besides doing a first look for her groom, Toni also did one for her dad, and it was the sweetest. Watching the father of the bride brimming with happy emotions was such a joy. And Blake, the groom, also couldn’t stop shedding some happy tears all day long. He sobbed when he first saw Toni, when she walked down the aisle, and when they said their vows. These were such beautiful and heartwarming moments that I immediately captured on my camera.

All Things Beautiful

There were a lot of lovely emotional moments at Toni and Blake’s wedding, but that wasn’t all about their big day. The day was full of celebration, laughter, partying, and dancing. The bridal party was so much fun, and I loved how they gelled so well with the wedding theme when it came to dressing. The bridesmaids put on fabulous pastel shade gowns, while the groomsmen were twinning with the groom in dark blue suits. The little ones at the wedding were smartly dressed and gave me adorable photos to add to the wedding album. Baby Lennon looked like a little angel and exuded such cherubic charm.

Everything else at this wedding, from gorgeous florals and fantastic decor to the beautiful cake and table arrangements, was top-notch. The wooden barn and the lovely village vibes at The Grafton Inn made this day even more special than it already was. Photographing it all and creating those romantic portraits of my couple against verdant and scenic outdoors was a joy for me. I loved spending time with Toni and Blake and their friendly guests on this fantastic day. I hope my couple loves their images as much as I enjoyed creating them at such an idyllic location.
